Leicestershire Removals

About us

A county firm, run on five rules

Every removals company says it is careful. Fewer will tell you what gets decided before the day, who is actually on the vehicle, and which jobs they turn down. This page does all three.

  1. Survey before quote

Somebody sees the volume, the access and the stairs before a number exists — in person, or by video for a smaller property. A price given from a room count is a guess with a decimal point on it.

  2. Our own crew, both ends

The people who pack your house are the people who unload it, including at the far end of a long-distance move. Nothing is sold on to whoever is free that morning.

  3. Plan around the street

Start time, vehicle and crew size come from your road and your access rather than from a default. It is why a well-run moving day is a dull one.

  4. Say what would change it

Permits, shuttles, extra crew, a lift booking — written on the quote with the reason. Nothing is raised for the first time on the morning.

  5. Refer what we should

Loughborough-only moves, house clearance, pianos and safes. If somebody else will do it better, we will say so rather than take the booking.

What this county asks of a mover

Range, mostly. A Victorian terrace in the city, a semi in Wigston, a stone house in the Wolds and a new build outside Hinckley are four different days' work, and a firm that only really knows one of them will struggle with the other three.

Then timing. Two universities concentrate an enormous amount of moving into a few weeks each summer, which affects families and landlords as well as students. Planning around that is part of the job here in a way it is not in most counties.

Where we stop

Loughborough has its own removals firm — removals-loughborough.co.uk — who work those streets every day. For a move that starts and finishes in the town, they are the better call and we say so.

We also do not do house clearance, which needs a waste carrier licence we do not hold, and we send pianos, safes and fine art to specialists rather than improvising with something irreplaceable.

Another firm on the same county

leicestershire-removals.uk is a separate company covering Leicestershire in a different style. We would rather point you at them than have you assume the two are the same operation.

Why no prices appear here

Because a figure written before anybody has seen your volume, your access and your dates would be invented — and invented numbers get revised on the day, when you have least room to argue.

You get a written quote after a survey instead, with the scope, the inclusions and what would change it. Ask every firm you are considering the same three questions: where will the vehicle stand, who is doing the wrapping, and what happens if the dates move.

Ask the awkward question first. It costs nothing.

The lane, the staircase, the date somebody else controls. Those are worth settling before anybody books anything.
