Leicestershire Removals

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly

If it is not here, ring and ask. The questions people hesitate over — what happens when a date moves, what happens if something gets marked — are exactly the ones to settle before booking.

Leicestershire, specifically

The August rush, city parking, village lanes, Rutland, and which firm is which.

Why is August so busy here?

Two universities and a rental market that turns over in the same fortnight. Student tenancies, family moves and landlord changeovers all land together, so the good slots go early. If your move has to be in August, book well ahead.

Can you park outside a city terrace?

Sometimes, and where you cannot the answer is a permit, a suspended bay or a carry from wherever the vehicle can legally stand. It is settled at survey rather than negotiated on the morning, because in Clarendon Park and Highfields it decides the whole day.

Our village is down a single-track lane.

Common in Charnwood and out towards the Wolds, and it is a shuttle rather than a problem: a smaller vehicle does the last stretch to a larger one parked somewhere sensible. Planned in advance it costs a little time; discovered on the day it costs a lot.

Do you cover Rutland?

Yes. Oakham and Uppingham are a short run from Melton and we treat Rutland as part of the natural catchment even though it is over the county line.

Do you move in Loughborough?

For moves in and out of the county, yes. For a move that starts and finishes inside Loughborough, the town has its own removals firm who work those streets daily and we point people to them.

Is there another firm with a similar name?

Yes — leicestershire-removals.uk is a separate company covering the same county in a different style. If that is who you were looking for, the coverage page links them.

Do you move to London and back?

Regularly, and the inbound direction is busier: households leaving London for space in the county. The M1 makes the drive straightforward; the access questions are usually at the Leicestershire end.

Moving, packing and everything else

Quotes, inclusions, cover, claims, storage and what we will not carry.

Which parts of Leicestershire do you cover?

The county: Leicester city, Oadby and Wigston, Loughborough and the Soar valley, Hinckley and the west, Melton and the Wolds, Market Harborough and the south-east, Coalville and Ashby, and the Charnwood villages. Loughborough has its own town firm and we link to them for purely local work there.

How is a quote worked out?

A survey first — in person, or by video for a smaller property — so somebody has seen the volume, the access and the stairs. Then a written quote setting out what is included and what would change it. Nothing is priced from a room count over the phone.

Do you move students?

Constantly. Two universities in the county and a rental market that turns over every summer mean room moves, house-share moves and storage over the holidays are ordinary work rather than a sideline.

Can you move us out of the county?

Yes, and Leicestershire is one of the easiest places in England to start a long run from — the M1 north and south, the M69 west, the A46 across. One crew loads and unloads, whichever direction you are going.

What if our completion date slips?

Tell us as soon as you know. The load goes into storage, inventoried as it is packed, and comes out when you have keys — so you move once rather than camping in a half-furnished house.

Do you handle village and lane access?

Regularly. The Charnwood lanes and parts of the Wolds will not take a full-size vehicle, and the answer is a smaller body with a shuttle — planned at survey and written on the quote rather than discovered on the morning.

Is there another firm with a similar name?

Yes — leicestershire-removals.uk is a separate company covering the same county in a different style. If that is who you were looking for, the coverage page links them.

Are you insured?

Goods-in-transit and public liability cover are in place, with the limits — including any per-item limit — stated on your quote. Anything worth more than that limit should be declared at survey so the right cover is arranged.

Who turns up?

Our own crew in our own vehicles, including at the far end of a long-distance move. Where a specialist is genuinely needed — a piano, a safe — that is on the quote with the reason.

Do you offer video surveys?

Yes, and for a flat, a student house or a smaller property they work well. For a full family house or anywhere with awkward access, standing in it beats looking at a phone.

What if something is damaged?

Note it on the paperwork at delivery while the crew is present and confirm it in writing. The claims process and the reporting window are in the booking terms; keep the packaging until the claim is assessed.

Can clothes stay in drawers?

In a sound chest of drawers, usually. Not in a wardrobe — wardrobe cartons come as standard so clothes travel hanging. Anything going into storage should be boxed properly.

Is there anything you will not move?

Anything flammable, explosive or corrosive; gas bottles, paint, solvents, fuel; perishables; plants and anything living; firearms. Pets travel with you.

Do you do house clearance?

No. Clearance means disposing of waste and needs a carrier licence we do not hold. We move and we store; for a clearance, use a licensed firm.

Still not answered?

House removals covers the six kinds of housing stock in the county. Student moves deals with halls and summer storage. Packing and storage explains the four levels, and international removals handles the customs side.

Anything left over, get in touch.

One more question is free. So is the survey.

Ring with the awkward one — the lane, the staircase, the loft nobody has opened since the last move.
