Man and van
Smaller loads, carried properly
Too big for a car, far too small for a removal — that is most of what this service does. It always comes with two people, because one person and a wardrobe on a Victorian staircase is how things get broken.
- A single room out of a shared house in Clarendon Park
- A studio flat in the city moving to another studio
- One sofa from a shop that delivers to the kerb and no further
- A marketplace buy in Nottingham, Derby or Coventry
- An auction lot with a collection deadline
- A part-load into or out of a storage unit
- A bedroom of furniture for a grown-up child moving out
- A garage clear-out going to a relative rather than a tip
What you get
A van and a crew who load it, with the same materials we use on a full house move: blankets on upholstery, corner protection, straps in the back so nothing shifts on the M1. The only difference is scale.
What it is not is van hire with a driver attached. If you would rather do the carrying yourself, hiring a vehicle is cheaper and we will say so.
Collections
A good share of these jobs never involve your home. A sofa from a showroom, an auction lot with a deadline, something bought online from a seller in Nottingham or Northampton who is not going to deliver it.
Send the collection address, any reference the seller has given you, the window they have offered, and a straight description of the item — weight changes what the crew brings far more than size does.
Where the line sits
At roughly two rooms of furniture. Beyond that, a man-and-van booking made to save money becomes three trips and a very long day, and a proper removal is both faster and cheaper.
Describe the load honestly and we will tell you which side of that line you are on. Students moving a single room should read the student page, which covers halls windows and summer storage as well.
How far we go
Anywhere in Leicestershire for short work, and well beyond it for collections and single items — Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham, Coventry, Northampton and Rutland are all routine.
Worth knowing
Man and van, the honest answers
How big a job does this cover?
A room, a studio, a few large pieces, a single item or a collection. Beyond a couple of rooms of furniture it becomes several trips, and a full removal costs less and takes less of your day.
Is it one person or two?
Two wherever furniture is involved. One person cannot safely take a wardrobe down a Victorian staircase, and the attempt damages backs and door frames.
Do you do collections?
Regularly — marketplace buys, auction lots, shop deliveries that stop at the kerb, and trade collections. Send the address, any reference and the seller's window, and say what the item actually is.
Can you go outside the county?
Single items and part-loads travel anywhere. Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham, Coventry and Northampton are routine; further afield is a question of the journey rather than the job.
Is the wrapping the same?
Identical to a full removal — blankets, corner protection and straps in the back. Only the quantity changes.
Describe the load and both addresses.
What it is, the floor at each end, and whether a van can stand outside. That is enough for a straight answer.
